Spicy Spätburgunder from Rheinhessen.

Terroir, production method and maturation: The grapes are collected from the old limestone clay soil of the Oppenheim village orchard. The garden's vines were planted in the 1980s with Burgundy clones. The wine ferments and matures in once-used French oak barrels for almost 2 years.

Use: As an accompaniment to pepper-glazed tuna fillet.

Description: An open deep aroma with both red fruitiness and spiciness and roastiness. The medium-bodied taste is still dense with tannins, but the layered aftertaste promises the wine a long life.

The history of the Kühling-Gillot farm, located in the village of Bodenheim in the northeast of Rheinhessen, goes back a couple of centuries. In 2002, after graduating as a winemaker from Geisenheim, Carolin Spanier took over the responsibility of running the family farm from her parents, Gabi and Roland Gillot.
