Altamente
Altamente is a project started in 2014 by Fernando Barrena, known from the background of Azul y Garanza, in the Hoya de Torres valley, in the northernmost corner of the Jumilla quality classification area. The grapes for the wines are bought from local organic producers. Growing at an altitude of 900 meters, the average 30-year-old Monastrell vines are not grafted onto American vine rootstock, which makes them exceptional on the European continent.
The harvests of the orchards lined with olive groves, almond trees and lavender flowers are kept small and are worked by hand while respecting the surrounding nature. The soil in the area consists of calcareous sand and stone, and the climate is harshly hot and dry. However, the winds blowing from the Mediterranean cool the vines growing in harsh conditions.
