Poças Júnior's classic Douro red wine with richness and spiciness.
Terroir, method of production and maturation: The grapes are hand-picked from the Douro Superiore area, and vinified at Quinta das Quartas. The soil is slate and the vines are 40-60 years old. The wine ages in temperature-controlled steel tanks, macerating for a long time. 20% of the wine matures a second time in usable French Allier oak barrels and 80% in steel tanks.
Use: As a partner for dark meat dishes and honest steak. Also suitable for matured hard cheeses.
Description: Dark and deep aroma with ripe sweet fruitiness and oak spices. A full-bodied taste, where the tannins are ripe but dense and the acidity refreshes the whole.
