Contrà Soarda Eng

Veneton maakunnassa, Alppien juurilla, Bassano del Grappassa syntyvät Contrà Soardan luonteikkaat luomuviinit. Asiagon tasangon kupeessa sijaitsevilla tarhoilla vallitsee täydellinen mikroilmasto ja terroir on otollinen huippulaadukkaiden viinien valmistamiseen. Alueen vulkaaninen maaperä antaa oman kontribuutionsa lähinnä alkuperäislajikkeista tehtyihin viineihin.

Contrà Soardan tila on kuulunut Gottardin suvulle yli sadan vuoden ajan ja he ovat pyörittäneet alueella ravintolayritystä pitkään. Vuonna 1999 Gloria ja Mirco Gottardi ymmärsivät alueen potentiaalin ja istuttivat 12 hehtaaria viiniä, muiden muassa vespaiolaa, garganegaa ja marzemino neroa. Perinteitä kunnioittavan suvun jäsenet rakennuttivat vaikuttavan viinikellarin, joka on bio-arkkitehtuurin taidonnäyte.

Contrà Soardan viinit kuuluvat ehdottomasti alueensa parhaimmistoon. Gottardin perheen filosofia on kaikessa yksinkertaisuudessaan vakuuttava: ”Taivas antaa, maa vastaanottaa ja kasvattaa, ihminen vie päätökseen.”

Contrà Soarda

In Veneto right below the Alps in Bassano del Grappa Contrà Soarda makes their characterful wines. Contrà Soarda’s heart is the Gottardi family of four. The father, Mirko, and their two children in their 20s, Eleonora and Marcello, are in charge of working the vineyards, winemaking and exports. The mother, Gloria, is in charge of the winery and the farm’s restaurant.

The vineyards are situated by the Asiago plain, which has an ideal microclimate for wine production. Also the volcanic soils are perfect for the creation of top quality wines. Contrà Soarda has belonged to the Gottardi family for over a hundred years. The Gottardis have not only farmed the land and raised cattle, they have also run a restaurant for a long time. In 1999 Gloria and Mirko Gottardi started professional winemaking having understood Contrà Soarda’s potential. They planted 12 ha of vines. Today they grow mostly local grape varieties like the white Vespaiola and Garganega and the red Marzemino nero.

Always respectful of tradition, the family built an impressive cellar which is a tour de force of bio-architecture. Contrà Soarda’s practices are organic and everything in the vineyards is done by hand. The winery is finely balanced between modern winemaking and tradition. Most of their wines go through temperature controlled fermentation in steel vats, but their BC-wines are homages to traditional winemaking that didn’t involve electricity or sulphites. BC (“before Christ”) refers to methods from centuries ago: the wines undergo spontaneous fermentation without temperature control and they are not fined, filtered or stabilized. 

Contrà Soarda’s wines are without a doubt among the best of the area. The Gottardi family’s philosophy is profound in its simplicity: “The sky gives, the ground receives and grows, the human completes.”
