Cantina Offida Eng
Reaching from the Adriatic coast to the rolling hills inland, Marche is often called the secret paradise of Italy – it is like Tuscany except smaller and without the hoards of tourists. The area is well-known for its white wines made from the local Verdicchio and Pecorino varieties.
Cantina Offida's winery is located in a village of the same name, some 20 km inland from the coast. Though it started out in the ‘70s as a co-operative it is now independently owned. A group of local vintners bought the property in 2010 and made significant changes and repairs in the vineyards and cellars – the aim being to put Marche in the center of quality winemaking.
In addition to the local white varieties, Cantina Offida grows the red grapes Montepulciano and Sangiovese as well as smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
